New to powerlifting?
Powerlifting is a test of raw strength in three lifts. Each lifter gets three attempts at every lift, and the best successful attempt from each counts toward the total.
- SquatDown and back up with the bar on your back.
- Bench pressLower to the chest, pause, press.
- DeadliftLift the bar from the floor to standing.
- You choose the weight for each attempt, so open with a weight you know you can hit.
- Lifters compete in weight classes and age divisions, and weigh in before they lift.
- The DOTS score adjusts a lifter's total for bodyweight, so lifters of different sizes can be compared fairly.
